Maribel de Jesús Guardado

Hi, my name is Maribel de Jesús Guardado and I was born in Cantón Guadalupe, Apopa. I learned the art of weaving at a young age and quickly discovered a passion for creating textiles by hand. Although I never had the opportunity to own a formal workshop, I was determined to continue practicing the craft and find a way to make it part of my future.

“With faith, perseverance, and the support of my mother, I built my first loom with my own hands inside my home in Apopa. What started as a small effort gradually grew as more people began to appreciate the quality and care behind our handmade textiles. Over time, weaving became much more than a craft—it became the main source of support for my family.

“Today, I continue working from my home alongside my mother and my cousin, creating each piece with dedication and pride. As demand grew, I was able to add three more looms, allowing us to continue expanding our work. Many of our textiles are shared at the Ex-Cuartel Artisan Market in San Salvador, where customers can discover the tradition, effort, and family story woven into every piece we create.”
